Diet & Nutrition

In general, maintaining a healthy diet is important for anyone living with HIV. Good nutrition supports the immune system, helps one maintain a healthy weight, and enables the absorption of HIV medicines more efficiently.

While there is no cure currently for HIV, you can control the infection through antiretroviral therapy as prescribed by a healthcare provider. In fact, most people can get the virus under control within 6 months.

Healthy Lifestyle

In addition to following a nutritious diet and taking prevention and/or treatment medication, there are other practices that can support a healthful lifestyle.
